In the latest on our ezine’s 'Diaries' series, we spoke to Mr Paras Jain, an aspiring visual artist from Nagpur, Maharashtra . A super-talent, Paras has created numerous, beautiful paintings, all of which can be found in his awe-inspiring  portfolio. His eye-catching art style is inspired by a strange juxtaposition of reality and lyrical beauty.

"Art is a simple way to express yourself. It's a formation of thoughts and feelings. When the intent behind our art is self-expression, the value in the art becomes the emotional benefits. The process we go through to create our art, to transform a mental image into something physical, is a reflection of our thought processes," said the young visual Artist Mr Paras Jain in a conversation with Swapnil Saundarya ezine.


"Art doesn’t give rise to anything in us that isn’t already there. It simply stirs our curious consciousness and sparks a fire that illuminates who we have always wanted to be."... he added.

On asking about his educational background, visual artist Paras answered,

I always loved drawing since I was a kid trying to make something awesome out of my crayons. Fast forwarding several years, I have earned a bachelor of science degree in Digital film making and a diploma in Graphic Design. I started working as a freelance artist and contributed my services to some of the renowned brands across the nation. 

SS• Some people think art is just about feeling inspired. Is there any discipline required, too, from your point of view?

PJ•  I think it is a combination of feeling inspired and the ability to execute the ideas based from those inspirations. An awesome concept in mind will just be useless without the proper skill, discipline and style to make them materialize.

SS• What are the tools you use the most?

PJ• I use sketchbooks, drawing papers, canvas, black pens, water colour and acrylics. If the work requires, I also do them in digital form using Photoshop.

SS• You have a lot of fantasy elements in your drawings and the feeling I get when looking at one is that it keeps happening, it never ends. What inspires you for each piece you create?

PJ• I’ve been a huge fan of heroic characters like Draupadi, Krishna, Meera Bai to name a few. I think the inspiring stories of such characters I watch reflect on my own paintings. Music also play an important part in my whole art process.

SS• Any advice for aspiring artists who still haven’t discovered that unique style of theirs?

PJ• Work hard. Play harder. Be patient. Just draw. And NEVER quit!
