Ramayana is one of the most important and well-known epics of Hinduism. It tells the story of Lord Rama, an incarnation of the Hindu god Vishnu, and his adventures with his wife Sita, his brother Lakshmana, and the monkey god Hanuman.

The story begins with the birth of Rama and his brothers in the city of Ayodhya, where their father, King Dasharatha, rules. Rama is the eldest and is favored by his father, but due to a promise he made to one of his wives, Dasharatha is forced to banish Rama to the forest for 14 years. Sita and Lakshmana accompany Rama into the forest, where they encounter various challenges and battles with demons.

One of the most famous episodes in the Ramayana is the abduction of Sita by the demon king Ravana. Rama and Lakshmana seek the help of Hanuman, who leads them to Ravana's kingdom in Lanka. There, Rama and his army fight a fierce battle with Ravana and his demon army, ultimately defeating them and rescuing Sita.

After their return to Ayodhya, Rama is crowned king, but his reign is short-lived as Sita is accused of infidelity and banished to the forest. Sita seeks refuge with the sage Valmiki, where she gives birth to twin sons, Lava and Kusha. Eventually, Rama learns of his sons' existence and is reunited with Sita, but she chooses to return to the earth from which she was born rather than live as queen.

The Ramayana has been retold and adapted in various forms over the centuries, and it remains an important cultural and religious text in India and other parts of Southeast Asia.
