Menstrual Hygiene Day is celebrated annually on May 28th to raise awareness about the importance of menstrual hygiene management and to break the stigma surrounding menstruation. This day aims to promote good menstrual hygiene practices, provide access to menstrual hygiene products and education, and encourage open dialogue about menstruation.

The day was first observed in 2014 and has since then been recognized as a global advocacy platform to promote menstrual hygiene management. The theme for Menstrual Hygiene Day 2023 is "Break the Silence, End the Stigma, Period."

The red dot challenge is a social media campaign that was launched to coincide with Menstrual Hygiene Day. The challenge involves applying a red dot on the palm of one's hand and sharing a photo on social media with the hashtag #RedDotChallenge. The campaign aims to encourage conversations around menstrual health and hygiene and to remove the stigma associated with menstruation. By participating in this challenge, people can help raise awareness and promote positive attitudes towards menstruation.
