 चार भुजाओं में पुस्तक, माला, कमल और वीणा धारण करने वाली माँ सरस्वती- संगीत, कला, वाणी, मातृत्व, आध्यात्मिकता, विद्या, ज्ञान, ग्रंथ, मन्त्र, तंत्र की देवी हैं। समुद्र मंथन से उत्पन्न जिनकी सुंदरता देख ब्रह्मा अपनी आँखें नहीं हटा सके जिसके फलस्वरूप उनके पांच सिर उत्पन्न हुए। माँ सरस्वती म्यांमार में थुराथाडी, चीन में बियांकेटिन और जापान में बेनज़ाइटन के रूप में भी पूजी जाती हैं।

Saraswati- the goddess of knowledge, music, art, speech, wisdom and learning, having four arms, holding a book, rosary, water pot and veena. Born  from Samudra Manthan that arranged between Devatas and Asuras and married to Lord Brahma thereafter. In another legend, Brahma created her and she turned out to be so beautiful that he could not takes his eyes off her. Since he had five heads -four in the four cardinal directions and one on top, his head kept turning in whichever direction Saraswati went. She is also worshipped as Thurathadi in Mayanmar, Biàncáitin in China and Benzaiten in Japan.
