आभूषण दक्षिण भारत के .........
भारत में आभूषणों का महत्व अलंकार से कहीं ज्यादा है. इसके साथ धार्मिक और रस्म-रिवाज़ों का भी सम्बन्ध है. धातु, इसके आकार और प्रकार से समुदाय, जाति, पंथ और यहाँ तक कि राज्य या क्षेत्र विशेष का भी बोध होता है. स्वर्ण से बने आभूषण हर रोज प्रशंसित और धारण किये जाते हैं. इसके अलावा, त्योहारों और अन्य धार्मिक अवसरों के लिए विशेष आनुष्ठानिक आभूषण तैयार किये जाते हैं.
भारतीय आभूषणों का समृद्ध और शानदार इतिहास का गौरव ‘भारत की स्वर्ण भूमि’ यानी दक्षिण भारत के अलंकरणों में दिखाई देता है. तो आइये इस संदर्भ में बात करते हैं दक्षिण भारत के प्रतीकात्मक आभूषणों के बारे में जिनकी ख्याती देश - विदेश तक फैली है.
जड़नाग -
इसका अर्थ केश सर्प या बालों वाला साँप होता है. यह साँप से संबंधित बालों के जूड़े का अलंकार है. “जड़” का अर्थ केश और “नाग” का अर्थ साँप है. ऐसी मान्यता है कि किसी स्त्री के घुटने तक लंबे केश एक काले नाग के समान होते हैं.
दक्षिण भारत की स्त्रियाँ अपने जूड़े को फूलों से सजातीं हैं, और इसलिए केशों के अधिकतर आभूषण फूलों के रूप में बनाए जाते हैं.
तल्ली या मंगलयम –
पूरे दक्षिण भारत में मंगलसूत्र विवाहित स्त्रियों का परम्परागत चिन्ह है. वर द्वारा विवाह के दिन वधू के गले में तल्ली बांधा जाता है जिससे वधू को सुमंगली, यानी मांगलिक विवाहित स्त्री की उपाधि मिलती है. तल्ली स्वर्ण से बनी लड़ी होती है जिसमें एक लटकन (पेंडेंट) लगा होता है और इसका आकार स्थानीय परम्परा के अनुसार भिन्न हो सकता है.
कालता उरु –
यह एक हार है जिसे वधू केवल अपने विवाह के दिन पहनती है. यह काफी भारी होता है, इसलिए रोज पहनना संभव नहीं हो पाता है. दक्षिण भारत की स्त्रियाँ अपने पुत्र के विवाह के दिन और/या अपने पति के 60वें जन्मदिन पर कालता उरु धारण करती हैं.
कासु माला –
इस हार को स्वर्ण के एक सौ सिक्कों से बनाया जाता है जिन पर देवताओं और देवियों के चित्रों की नक्काशी की गयी रहती है.
पाम्बदम –
इन कुण्डलों (कान की इन बालियों) को चक्र, गोल, शंकु, आदि जैसी विभिन्न ज्यामितीय आकृतियों में तैयार किया जाता है. यहाँ पम्बा का अर्थ साँप और “पाम्बदम” का अर्थ साँप का फण है. ये कुंडल साँप के समान दिखते हैं.
कुंडल के वजन के ख्याल से कान की लोलकी (ईअरलोब) को एक विशिष्ट छूरी से छेद दिया जाता है जो बाद में पाम्बदम के भार से बड़े हो जाते हैं.
मुडिचू –
ये कुंडल लिपटे हुए साँपों के समान दिखते हैं और दक्षिण भारत के सबसे अधिक प्रचलित आभूषणों में से एक हैं. इन कुण्डलों को स्वर्ण के तारों की बुनाई करके बनाया जाता है.
कुनक्कु –
दक्षिण भारत के सुदूरवर्ती समुदायों में फैली हुई लोलकी (ईअरलोब) आम बात है. उनके कुंडल भारी होते हैं. इन्हें शुद्ध स्वर्ण से बनाया जाता है और विशेष छूरी एवं पद्धति से कान छेद कर पहनाया जाता है.
दिलचस्प बात यह है कि कुरात्ति समुदाय की लड़कियां बचपन से ही कान की लोलकी को फैलाने के लिए बड़े आकार के कुंडल पहनती हैं जिसे कुनक्कु कहा जाता है.
तन्दत्त –
तन्दत्त काफी बड़े कुंडल का एक और प्रकार है जिसे कुंवारी लडकियाँ पहनती हैं. ये कुंडल स्वर्णिम पत्तियों से बनाए जाते हैं जिनमे मोम भरा रहता है.
ये कुछ कलाकृतियाँ है जो अपनी परम्परा और स्वर्ण के बीच सम्बन्ध दर्शातीं हैं. इनमें से कुछ आभूषण अब लुप्त हो रहे हैं या उनकी जगह आधुनिक आभूषणों का प्रचलन बढ़ रहा है. तथापि, भारत के दक्षिणी हिस्से में कारीगरों के वंशजों के परम्परागत प्रतिष्ठानों में ये आज भी मिलते हैं.
